Senior's Abbie Nelson, Bennett Hawley, Emily Hykes and Sam Shapiro from the Blake School traveled to Haiti as a part of their Senior Program with their mothers. As a part of Sprint to Cite Soleil, they completed PABs Pack handouts at two hospitals, volunteered at a special needs home, helped at Sprint's weekly practice and so much more! The connections and funds these teenagers were able to make and collect as a part of this impact trip have made significant progress in supporting Sprint's mission. What an unbelievable group and trip!
Sprint to Cite Soleil is more than Basketball. This week the high school French class at The Blake School in Minneapolis wrote letters to students at Lycee National de Cite Soleil School. The students received the letters and wrote back to their new Minneapolis Pen pals. Pictures were exchanged and friendships are beginning. Letters will be exchanged in May and June also. We have a lot to learn from each other! Gen Espwa! (Have Hope)!
Today Minnesota and Haiti came together to tell the story of the Shapiro family and how Sprint to Cite Soleil began. Sam Shapiro, President of Sprint to Cite Soleil, and Marc-Arthur, Sam's brother, got to speak at Xcel Energy Center in front of a live audience of over 18,000 people, along with hundreds more online. Thank you WE Day for this incredible opportunity and for inspiring us all!
